Self care comes in so many forms and might look at little different for every individual. It all comes down to fueling your soul and spirit with small disciplines that help you align with your true self. It is important to remember that we can’t give from an empty cup. Here are some of the best ways to keep “you” as a top priority in your life.

#1 Create a Morning Routine

Having a morning routine helps create structure and set the mood for the entire day. Carve out time in your morning to incorporate something that helps you feel centered and grounded, whether that is reading for 20 minutes or having a cup of coffee on your sofa. Whatever it is, make sure you make time for it each morning.

#2 Design an Exercise Schedule

Build exercise into your weekly schedule! It is the ultimate form of self care. Not only does it keep your body healthy, it also helps clear your mind and build confidence. Schedule out your aerobics classes or make time to hit the gym so many days per week. Make sure to write it into your calendar, so you feel committed.

#3 Give Yourself a Weekly Treat

Do something extra special for yourself once a week. It doesn’t have to be anything grand or expensive! Think, a trip to your favorite coffee shop, getting your nails done, or maybe a browse around your favorite clothing store. Take the time to do something small each week so you feel like all your hard work is worth it.

#4 Have Nightly Rituals

Have something that is a must do for going to bed. Maybe it’s washing your face, drinking a cup of tea, writing in your journal, or reading for a few minutes. This will help calm your mind so you can get a good night’s sleep. It might be hard to establish this at first, especially when it has been a long day and you want to just crawl into bed, but over time it will become natural.

#5 Create Thinking Space

This might sound strange, but I find that setting aside time to simply think, envision and dream. It can really help me gain understanding into what I want out of life. In our busy, fast-paced society, we often have feelings of anxiety and overwhelm. It can be hard to stop and let our minds wander, but we should! It’s so important.

Yes, I know that everyone is saying this, but that is because it is SO important! When you fuel your body with all the good stuff, you will have energy to tackle your days. Not only that, but the right diet can help your skin glow and your hair shine. A healthy diet can completely change your life.

It might be hard to incorporate all of these things into your life at once. I recommend starting with a morning routine and working your way from there. Slowly add in these activities to your life and next thing you know, you will be experiencing major transformation.
