Memorial Day always marks the start of the summer season for us, and with the summer season, comes hot days outside and cool tasty drinks! Luckily cocktails don’t have to be full of sugar to be delicious!
In my previous life (hehe ok like 7 years ago😜) I worked for a large beverage company and part of my job was experimenting with all sorts of yummy cocktail recipes... well today I'm sharing some of my favorite "skinny" summer cocktails with you.
Here’s to making your summer celebrations refreshing and tasty without the guilt!
Blueberry Mint Fiz
1 ½ oz. Blueberry vodka
St. Germaine Liquor (or agave syrup)
1 ½ oz. club soda
5-8 mint leaves
Place mint leaves in a cocktail shaker and muddle.
Add regular ice, vodka, agave or St. Germain Liquor and club soda - shake
½ cup fresh mint
1 lime cut into wedges
¼ cup white rum
1 cup coconut water
In the bottom of a shaker, muddle fresh mint and lime wedges. Add white rum, and coconut water. Fill with ice and shake until chilled.
Strain over two glasses filled with ice and top with sparkling water.
Spiked Cherry Lemonade Slush
2 packets Crystal Light Lemonade
3 fl oz. Cherry Vodka or vodka of your choice
1 ½ cups water
2 cups ice
Add all ingredients into a high power blender and blend until smooth and slushie texture.
Pour into 2 glasses and sip away!
Grapefruit Tequila Slammer
4 ounces fresh grapefruit juice
2 ounces silver tequila
2 ounces lemon lime seltzer
Garnish with additional grapefruit
Add all ingredients to glass with ice. To get it to fizz up and mix, cover top of glass with your hand and give it a good shake.
Ingredients (makes approximately 4 cocktails):
2 bottles Rosé
1 cup Sparkling ICE Lemonade
2 ice cube trays
Fresh strawberries (for garnish)
Fill two ice cube trays with Rosé and let them freeze overnight
Fill a blender with your frozen Rosé ice cubes, 1 cup Sparkling ICE lemonade, and 1 cup Rosé.
Blend until ice is no longer chunky, but be sure not to over blend. Only a couple of seconds are needed, or use the pulse option until the mixture is smooth
Divide Frosé mix between 4 glasses and garnish with fresh strawberries!
White Strawberry-Lemon Sangria
2 lemons, thinly sliced
1 apple, cored and sliced
1 cup strawberries, hulled and sliced lengthwise
1 (750ml) bottle of white wine
½ cup light rum
4 cups lemon-lime seltzer
Add lemon slices to a larger pitcher, then the apples and strawberries.
Pour the wine and rum over the top.
Cover and place in the refrigerator for 4-5 hours
Remove from refrigerator and add the lemon lime soda. Add a few pieces of the fruit to your glass and pour sangria over to serve.
Try using fresh ingredients vs. packages ones. For example squeeze fresh lemon and lime juice vs. buying it store bought in a bottle. A lot of the time those have added sugars. Making things from scratch is not only healthier, but also more flavorful, so it’s a win/win. Memorial day and summer will be here before we know it!
